The Legendary Chinook and Coho Salmon of Buoy 10

The Chinook and Coho Salmon of Buoy 10 are legendary. Before beginning their annual migration from the Pacific Ocean upriver, their bodies go through a rapid change. Their kidneys must adjust to freshwater because they are coming from the salty waters of the Pacific Ocean. The salmon try to eat as much as possible before heading upriver, resulting in a large amount of hungry and aggressive fish. This makes the fishery spectacular with a Buoy 10 fishing guide.

Where is Buoy 10 fishing?

The actual Buoy 10 channel marker is located at the mouth of the Columbia River, known as “The Graveyard of the Pacific’’. This area has claimed hundreds of early sea-going vessels trying to navigate through this dangerous bar. However, with modern technology and 24 hour Coast Guard presence, this area has become much safer to navigate.

Safety is our first priority

While there are new maritime advancements, anglers still need to be cautious of the tides and weather. It’s important to pay attention to weather reports and tide tables before heading out. When you hire us as your Buoy 10 fishing guide, we’re prepared with the latest navigation equipment and updated river conditions to ensure a safe trip.

How we catch ‘em at Buoy 10

Our preferred method for catching salmon at Buoy 10 is trolling baits like anchovies and herring behind a flasher. We use long rods with a soft or medium tip and heavy backbone, as well as line counter reels to know what depth we are fishing at. With the right setup, fishing can be downright outstanding – sometimes we hook fish faster than we can get all the rods in the water!

Buoy 10 fishing for Chinook and Coho salmon is fun for the whole family!
