I had the opportunity to book a salmon trip with Captain Mike while visiting Astoria and the Pacific Northwest this past summer, and it was an incredible experience. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned angler, Mike knows how to put you on the fish and help ensure you land your catch. His equipment is top-notch, and his brand-new, high-tech salmon boat makes the trip even more enjoyable. On top of that, he’s personable, entertaining, and a true pleasure to fish with. I can’t recommend him enough!

Us group of three booked the combo house and fishing trip for a three night stay and two days of fishing. The house itself is situated in a beautiful, serene, safe, and family friendly neighborhood. We saw a couple fawns playing in the backyard overlooking a tributary of the Columbia river. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars around this location. The house itself is beautifully decorated, nicely equipped, and thoughtfully detailed. It was super clean, comfortable, with all the necessary kitchen amenities. Fishing with Mike Hazen was spectacular. The weather was not the most friendly, but Mike absolutely put forth all the efforts to make the trip a success, and we did succeed in catching our limit of King salmons, along with a number of catches that we released. We also caught a steelhead and a coho. Mike is knowledgeable, friendly, and an excellent guide. Both days we had two other people join the fishing group, and they were all previous customers of Mike, which speaks to his expertise as a guide. I certainly recommend the house/fishing combo. We will certainly return.

My family and I had a phenomenal time fishing with Captain Mike and his son! We were only out for a few hours and managed to boat about 14 sturgeon. This has always been a bucket list fish for me, and I was impressed with the service, cleanliness, the weather, and the non-stop action. Now you can't predict the weather nor the activity of fish, but we were lucky enough nail all of those! Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely hit up Captain Mike - maybe salmon for the next trip!

This was our third trip to fish with Mike! This year we brought new guests and stayed on Puget Island at the Hazen BnB. We not only fished off the banks out back and lounged in luxury in the cabin spying on deer 360° in the yard, we BBQed, saw Astoria, ate Tillamook ice cream and beach combed. There has never been a more thoughtfully designed space to share with friends and family. We put two families of 3 in this cabin comfortably! And we have never traveled together before! I can't speak highly enough about Jamie and Mike, you could not find two more decent, enjoyable people if you looked! The fishing has had us hooked (haha) since that first trip way back! Ideal location to stay for fun and relaxation and Fish On!

To my fellow fishermen, If you are fortunate enough to book a fishing trip with Mike Hazen, consider yourself blessed. Mike loves to fish and it shows through with everything he does. From being at the dock early, boat and tackle rigged and ready all the way through to the cleaning of the catch, Mike is top notch.
